I am a girl student of final year of science stream from delhi university. I have a strong desire to become a pilot since my childhood, But I am very confused for the same .plz help me out in this manner, i have heard that govt. has launched a programme that needs science graduates(fresher) for commercial pilot training. Could you please pass me on all the information related to this? Can I apply for this being in final year? could you plz pass me on the application form? I am also interested for becoming a pilot of air force. I have heard its application form comes in newspaper in July but I could not search it the whole month. Could you please tell me from where can i get it? I'll be thankful to you if you pass me on the information as soon as possible and help me out to be a pilot.

Before getting a commercial pilot's licence you will have to get private pilot's licence (PPL). Various flying clubs across the country launch courses for PPLs. One such flying club is located at Safdarjang Airport, New Delhi. You may get in touch with them to get the necessary information. As far as air force is concerned they take fresher and provide training. If you are a women or NCC 'C' Certificate Holder you can directly give PILOT APTITUDE BATTERY TEST (PABT), after which you can enter the IAF in flying branch. UPSC also conducts CDS exam through which you can opt for flying branch. Your age should be between 19-23 years (for graduates). The advertisement for flying branch comes necessarily in the Employment News once or twice a year. You keep watching for these.

Hello Madam/Sir, I am 25 years old and currently working in a BPO since 3yrs. I am interested to make up my career as a flight engineer. I have done my grad in BE(Elec&Commn) and have also done NCC 'B'certificate in Air wing NCC and NCC 'C' Certificate with B grade in Army wing (INF BN). I also wish to pursue CPL may be after some time but at this point I am concentrating at the Flight Engineering Career. Kindly Guide me.Thanks!

Keep track of the recruitment notifications of the airlines and apply for positions which fit your background and skills. In fact, it would be a good idea to to log on to the websites of the various airlines and survey the nature of openings usually available for engineers of your background. You could also keep in mind that some airlines also have a Cadet Pilot entry scheme for engineering graduates which you could opt for as an when such opportunities are advertised.

I'm B.Tech(mechanical),passed out in 2006. Now i'm in govt. job but i want know about CPL course. Can I apply for this CPL licence.which are the best institutes where I can apply. Can I get benefit / preference of my B.Tech(mechanical) degree in getting admission in the best CPL institute. what's the whole course fees and duration. Is there any CPL institute where only B.Tech/gredutes can get CPL training. What's the average salary , a newly appointed CPL holder in airline can draw. I also want to inform you that I niether have SPL nor PPL Licence. Please reply as soon as possible?..... (ANEESH KUMAR SINGH)

Cadet Pilots in Air India were recruited last year from among Indian nationals who are Engineering/ Science graduates and the same scheme may be offered by other airlines. You could, therefore, look out for such options. However, I doubt you would get any preference for admission for admission to CPL course of any institute. The total cost of training for CPL works out to approximately Rs 17 lakhs. Actually, when you are recruited right after your CPL, the salary is not very high, but once your on-the-job training period is over, you can earn about Rs 50000 to Rs 1 lakh per month based on your flying hours and work experience. Different airlines may have their own remuneration packages, so this is just an approximation. List of flying schools recognized by the DGCA are listed on www.dgca.nic.in

Is it necessary to study aeronautical engineering for taking up avionics stream. If one does not take aeronautical engineering what route of study to be adopted?.... (Nazia Nizamuddin)

Avionics literally means aviation electronics. It is the science and technology of the development and use of electrical and electronics devices in aviation. In essence it comprises all electronic systems designed for use on an aircraft. If not aerospace or aeronautical engineering, it may be possible to take the electronics engineering. The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering licensing course of DGCA also includes avionics.

Recently i have passed my twelth board exams with 72% and now i am doing CPL course.I want to do graduation alongwith CPL course.Kindly tell me will i be able to do graduation through regular course or i have to opt for correspndence course. Also tell me about various graduation courses? ........ (surya prakash)

If the flying school offers the option of BSc Aviation then it would be a regular course. However, if that is not provided, you have to pursue your graduation through distance education. If you wish to pursue a bachelor's degree course full time then you have to be able to coordinate your flying training accordingly. Among your choice of bachelor's degree courses would be B A, B Sc, B Com, BBA, BTS, etc.

I wanted to become a Flight-steward but failed because of my short hight (5'5"). Some of the private training institutes advised me to pursue the course of a 'Ground Crew'. My Question is after pursuing the course by 1 lakh rupees what about the future and salary of a Ground Crew ? can I become a Flight- steward on the basis of my experience thereafter ? please answer in detail.(Sayantan)

You do not need to pursue any course to join an airline as ground crew. There are many equally good jobs available in banking, insurance, retail, hospitality and other service sectors which you could try for. There is no provision of becoming a flight steward after working as a ground crew or relevant experience. if you do not fulfil the basic eligibility criteria.
