I am hasan khan. and studying in TYBSc (electronic). and please tell me which course is suitable for me making my carrier in networking.

The ideal base for a career in networking would be an engineering degree in computer science and engineering, electronics and related fields of engineering. Alternatively, you could seek a higher degree in computer applications after your BSc. The alternatives are networking-based certifications like Microsoft MCSE and Cisco CCNA. A person has the choice of preparing for the exam through self-study or by enrolling in a certification course or programme run by a training organization (sometimes within high-tech companies themselves). However, certifications are designed to accredit someone for a certain amount of industry experience that they've already gained. Typically one to two years of prior background for the entry-level certifications are helpful. One could go for multiple certifications, but they are an incomplete substitute for formal education and industry experience. Ideally, one will acquire a few certifications as part of a balanced overall mix of education and career experience.

Hello sir. Myself Abhi Sarmah from Assam. I have completd my graduation (MA in Economics)and have completed DOEACC 'O'Level. Now I am studing MCSE(Microsoft Certified System Engg). What are the job prospects? Is it good?

Career prospects after the MCSE certifications are tremendous. The bottom line: “Microsoft certification is one of the only ways for non-engineering background professionals to make it in the IT industry. You may also think of further enriching your skills by doing MCA and embedded courses such as RTOS, C, C++, Embedded C, Micro controller 8051 etc.

I am a B.Com Graduate can you please provide me info. for career in Networking. Presently I am working in call centre as customer care executive

Knowledge of computer hardware is the foundation for a career in computer networking. A good course will familiarize you with the basics of operating systems, microprocessors, peripheral devices, computer architecture, assembly and disassembly, installing various software, configuring PCs, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. This can be followed by a relevant course/s or certification in networking to gain expertise in LAN and WAN, which is in high demand. LAN shares the information and resources within the premises through the intranet with the help of products like Windows NT or Windows 2003 from Microsoft, Unix from SCO, Solaris from Sun Microsystems, Netware from Novell, etc. It can be further connected to the Internet through internetworking devices such as Routers and Switches. WAN is a combination of Internet and Intranet — a network of networks, as it were. Vendor certifications like Microsoft’s MCSE or Cisco’s CCNA or CCNP or CCIE, or Novel’s CNE or Sun Microsystems’ Sun Solaris Administrator at the higher end, are increasingly sought by recruiters. The basic qualification for getting into networking is preferably a Degree / Diploma in Computer Sc / Electrical / Electronics / Telecommunication followed by a course in computer hardware.People with non-engineering background who possess good knowledge of computer fundamentals can also enter this field. In addition, recruiters prefer certain global certifications. For details of some such certifications, log onto: CISCO: www.cisco.com Computer Associates: www.computerassociates.com Juniper: www.juniper.com Prometric : www.prometric.com Microsoft: www.microsoft.com Nortel: www.nortel.com Novell: www.novell.com Sun Microsystems: www.sunmicrosystems.com
