Dear Sir, I'm Master in Library and Information Science and now working in the Central Library, IIT, Kharagpur as a Professional Trainee. Now I'm planning to do MBA Finance because of not having academic interest to do Mphil or PhD (LIS). Is this the right option for me or should I do any other course for career benefit? Please give a best advise.

MBA could provide you better prospects of advancement to managerial and administrative positions, but not necessarily Finance unless you actually have experience related to finance. Choose the specialisation that suits your abilities , which would facilitate your move to the kind of positions that you have in mind, and relates in some way to your work experience in the Library & Information Science field 07/08/2009

You have to track recruitment notifications and apply. Employment News carries many of the notifications, but you should also track notifications in the local and national dailies to widen your search to various universities and institutions which offer higher education and research opportunities in this field. In general, BLibSc is open to graduates. You would have to check with the Library & Information Science department of the universities in your state first whether they would offer admission based on the Diploma.(04.12.2008)

It appears that you are pursuing courses that are diverse in nature and do not necessary complement each other. From the details submitted by you, it appears advisable that if you plan to study further, having a higher degree either in library Science or German Language are likely to add to the existing qualifications rather than MBA in HRM though MBA in HRM if done through a reputed institute could itself be a good base for a managerial position in the corporate world or even in an academic institution where your qualifications of M.SC library Science and MBA in HRM shall complement each other. Hence, the status and the reputation of the institute from where you plan to do MBA HRM should be considered for taking a final decision.

Almost every university has the course in Library and Information Science. Lalit Naryan Mithila University, Darbhabga, for example conducts the course BLIBSc. You may contact your nearest university.
