'Buddhism: The Path of Compassion', A Book on Buddhist Heritage and Philosophy Released

A book 'Buddhism: the Path of Compassion' written by eminent cultural historian Mr. Binoy K Behl and published by Publications Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting was released on September 4, 2018 in an event held at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, New Delhi. The book was released by the writer, diplomat and former Rajya Sabha member Mr Pavan K. Varma. Dr Sachchidanand Joshi, Member Secretary, IGNCA, Dr. Sadhana Rout, Director General, Publications Division, Government of India, Dr. Ramesh C. Gaur, Head of Department, Kalanidhi, IGNCA and a galaxy of academicians, artists, diplomats, researchers and students were present during the book release function that was followed by an in-depth discussion on Buddhist heritage and philosophy. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Verma congratulated Publications Division on bringing out such a valuable book on heritage. The book covers the vast spread of Buddhist philosophy across Asia in ancient times, over formidable geographical barriers and great distances. The photographs of this book have been taken across India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Tibet, China, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Siberia, Kalmykia in European Russia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Mongolia and Japan.
