Prime Minister Gives A Clarion Call to Everyone to Become A Part of 'Swachhata Hi Seva'  Movement

 The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has called upon everyone to become a part of 'Swachhata Hi Seva Movement'. The Prime Minister said, "On 2nd October we mark the start of Gandhi Ji's 150th birth anniversary. It is also the day Swachh Bharat Mission completes 4 years of being a historic mass movement aimed at fulfilling Bapu's dream of a Clean India. I salute all those working towards a Swachh Bharat! The 'Swachhata Hi Seva Movement' commences on 15th September. This is a great way to pay tributes to Bapu. Come, be a part of this movement and strengthen the efforts to create a Swachh Bharat!" This sanitation campaign from 15 September to 2 October, 2018  is a mass movement towards Swachhata. This campaign reinforces the Swachh Bharat Jan Andolan and lays down the foundation of sustainability. Shramdaan activities are to be carried out with huge community mobilization by Swacchata Champions belonging to the grassroot level. This includes Women Sarpanch, Swacchagrahi, Students, Nigrani Samitis, Youth organizations etc; Famous Film Personalities & Sports persons, Leaders, various VIPs from Corporate field, Union Ministers and Chief Ministers of States. Students are to carry out cleanliness shramdaan on a large scale. Students of class 3rd to 5th will participate in hand washing campaign, class 6th to 12th students will participate in outdoor Swachhata campaign. In every village, gram sabhas will be organised to monitor the status of cleanliness in their gram panchayats and to make an action plan for the future. All the Union and State ministries, central & state govt. employees will carry out cleanliness activities. Mass awareness campaign will be organized to make passengers aware about swachhata. They will also be given information to avoid littering on trains or stations. SBM Flag and Logo will also be displayed. In this Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, all railways employees, their families, personnel in all railway stations, colonies and surrounding areas will participate. Each Swachha-grahi will be assigned a task of creating his own army of Swachhagrahis. This team would work on ODF and ODF+ activities in their respective villages. All these activities will be done as per the specified schedule. On 2 October 2018 (149th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Birthday), the Prime Minister will address the nation and make people committed towards their pledge of maintaining cleanliness in their surrounding areas.            -PIB
