Admission in Delhi University

As soon the Class XII results are declared, the hunt for good colleges and Universities by students in order to shape their future starts. The University of Delhi is one of the premier Universities of India and is known for its high standards in teaching and research and attracts eminent scholars from all over India. DU was established in 1922 with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and research and is a role-model and path-setter for other Universities in the country. Its rich academic tradition has always attracted the most talented students who later on went on to make important contributions to the society.
The University had a modest beginning with just three colleges, two faculties (Arts and Science) and about 750 students. DU has grown into one of the largest Universities in India. At present, there are 16 faculties, 86 academic departments, 77 colleges  and 5  other recognised   institutes  spread all over the city.
DU Under Graduate Admissions: Delhi University offers admissions to various undergraduate programmes through merit under the three-year UG programme structure. According to the DU Admission Committee the registration process for  under graduate admission begins by the last week of April or first week of May. Since this year the portal for the merit based and entrance based UG courses has been integrated. The first cut off list would most likely come out in the second week of June. Candidates seeking admission in the undergraduate courses offered by DU can register online at the centralized UG admission portal. After registration, candidates would need their individual log-in IDs and passwords to fill the Delhi University 2018 application form. Candidates can apply in multiple programmes/ courses through a single online registration form. No extra fee would be charged for choosing multiple programmes/courses. Registration for DU admission 2018 will be through central portal and no separate registration for entrance based courses is required. Thus, aspirants can register for all courses through the centralized admission portal.
DU conducts online entrance exam for nine professional UG courses. They are Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), BA Business Economics, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in physical Education, health education and Sports, BA H in multimedia and mass communication.
DU 2018 admission includes all the different colleges under Delhi University. By filling the single online registration form, one is eligible for admission to any college whose specific cut-off is met by him/her. Applications for admission of DU 2018 will be available tentatively till the second week of June 2018. Candidates who have cleared the Intermediate level examination under C.B.S.E. or any equivalent examination, with the minimum qualifying marks for each of the courses, can pursue UG courses in the University of Delhi.
Registration and submission of online forms must be done in online mode only. Through the DU application form, candidates can apply for all the programmes offered by each college under the university, except two colleges i.e., St. Stephen’s College and Jesus & Mary College as they announce their individual online application form for UG admissions. Candidates are free to choose as many programmes in as many colleges as they wish through the common online DU application form 2018. The candidates must ensure that they submit the filled in DU application form 2018 before the last date. If they fail to do so DU will cancel their candidature and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
Highlights of DU Admission Procedure 2018
*Online Registration: The candidates seeking admission to UG merit based/ entrance programme have to register through online registration.
*Cut-offs: The candidates are advised to check the centralized Admission Web Portal and respective college website for cut-offs for different programmes.
*Selection of Colleges/ Programmes: The applicants who meet the required cut-off should login to the UG admission portal into their individual account and select the college/programme where the applicant wishes to take admission and meets the desired cut-off criterion.
*Verification of documents at Colleges: The applicant must take a  print out of the admission form along with the list of required documents/certificates and proceed to the respective college for verification of mark-sheet/certificates, calculation of cut-off percentage depending on the programme/course.
*Approval of admission: The college will retain the original certificates of approved applicant in order to avoid multiple admissions. The certificates will remain with the colleges during the admission process. After this, the college will approve the admission on the UG admission portal. However, the colleges shall promptly return the documents in case student withdraws/cancels the admission or student wishes to appear in counselling of any other university/ institute.
*Online payment of Admission fee: The applicant will be required to log-on to the UG admission portal to make the online Admission Fee payment through the available online payment options.
*Registration Fee for DU 2018 Admission: The registration fee for admission of DU 2018 must be paid during the online registration process through any one of the payment modes available. The registration process would be completed only after realization of the online registration fee.
For further details students should visit the Delhi University official portal www.du.ac.in and also attend the Counselling and Open House Sessions in various colleges before seeking admission. A helpline attending to student’s queries as available in the last Academic Session would also be there.
